Fuchsia is one of the great loves of the Oregon Coast garden and for good reason. Our mild summers, cool nights and natural moisture create conditions that fuchsia absolutely thrives in. You will see them hanging from porches and entries all over Lincoln City for exactly that reason. They are not just popular here, they are perfectly at home here.
We carry fuchsia baskets seasonally in a range of trailing and upright varieties, in colors ranging from soft pinks and whites to deep magenta and purple combinations that stop people in their tracks. Rich, cascading and full of character, a good fuchsia basket is one of the most rewarding things you can hang on a shaded porch.
Fuchsia is particularly well suited to the spots that give other plants trouble. Limited direct sun, cool damp air, and the mild coastal climate are exactly the conditions fuchsia loves. One thing to keep in mind is that while the Oregon Coast is ideal fuchsia territory, they do best in wind protected areas. A covered porch, a sheltered entry, or a spot tucked out of the prevailing breeze will give you the best results. If you have a north facing entry or a covered porch that feels too shady for most flowering plants, fuchsia is almost always the answer.
